Refresh Your Spirit!

A Moment To Feel Renewed

As busy as we all are, it's easy to loose the rhythm between work and rest. Most of us think that action and accomplishment are better than rest, and that doing something, anything, is better than doing nothing at all. And our drive to meet everyday expectations can be a drain on our psyche, spirituality, soul, mind, what ever you want to call it. We end up not getting the rest we need, and tend to loose our way in all of the activity and rushing around to get things sone. We miss the quiet, contemplative moments that bring us wisdom. We miss the joy and excitement of effortless delight.

So what's the solution? How about setting aside some time and consider that time to be sacred, like a Sabbath? A Sabbath is special time set aside to rest, contemplate, meditate.

Journal Writing

Writing down the events of the day, encounters with others, opinions and feelings can, with the stroke of the pen, sweep a breath of fresh air into the mind. When we make the effort to empty our minds of the thoughts that keep swirling around, it makes room for new, creative thoughts to take root and express themselves in our daily life. Don't forget to record any dreams you remember. Keep a special notebook and favorite pen handy for this significant spiritual exercise.

A Meditation Bath

Set aside one hour some evening for a meditation bath. Put a do not disturb sign on the locked bathroom door ( for those who live with others) and turn the ringer off the phone, the machine will get it. Did you ever wonder what heaven smelled like? Well, experts agree that lavender has the most calming and relaxing effect on the human body. Lavender bubbles, candles and room spray is all that's needed. If you have dry skin, you might use lavender body lotion after your bath. Lower yourself into a warm, heaven scented bath and let your mind wander wherever it wants to go. When you let it all go, the body tends to relax. What a nice way to end a busy day and prepare for sweet dreams.

Walk Your Senses

A thirty minute walk, not necessarily for exercise, wandering in an open field can awaken the senses like never before. Let your soul guide you to the beauty of what nature has created and explore the details of it's awesomeness. Whatever leaf, rock, stump or creek you encounter, a close look brings you closer to the Creator. If you want, pick your favorite leaf or flower, tape it into your journal and write about your experience.

With these few suggestions, you can begin now to get in touch, relax, and make room for creativity, peace and harmony to take it's rightful place within you.

The Cure for PMS

Believe it or not, here's some information your doctor may not tell you. There's meds out there, and even a new one for those of us (including me) who suffer from PMS. But the good new is, you don't have to suffer any more, and you don't have to take pills. There are some things you'll have to do that you may not like, but the sacrifice is well worth it.

First of all, if you smoke, you'll have to quit. Walmart has everything you need without a prescription. Whether you chose the patch or the nicotine gum. To relieve any nervous tension you may feel from quitting, take Kava Kava. This can also be found at Walmart. Secondly, you'll have to give up the alcohol, especially 2 weeks before your period. Again, the Kava Kava can make you feel relaxed. Thirdly, if you drink cafinated coffee or pop, switch to decaf. Any headaches you get from this will only last a couple of days and you can take ibuprofin or tylenol. This fourth thing is very important. You must drink 6-8 glasses of water every day. Make sure that no matter where you are, work or shopping (besides at home) that there is a restroom nearby. You'll have to go alot. But this is a good thing. Cleaning the body of crap from the inside out is very natural. If you have skin problems, you'll see an improvement there too. Fifth thing is, if you are a junkfood junky, cut your usual serving of junkfood in half. Replace the other half with an apple. We need fruit in our diet, and the vitamin A in apples also help with skin problems. Sixth thing is of course, diet. Try your best to get proper nutrition. Take a multivitamin if you don't get your vitamins from the food you eat. Don't forget iron from protein foods, and calcium for your bones, and vitamin E. Seventh, you must get proper exercise. Being busy is not enough. You need to stretch for flexibility and cardio exercise to balance your program. Even if you shoot baskets with the kids. Work up a sweat. If you feel dizziness or pain, stop for the day. In time you will build up your stamina and be able to go longer. Exercise equals good health and a good nite's sleep. Eight, and lastly, if you are a praying person, ask God to give you the strength and willpower to fuel your commitment to this program. Set a goal, a time to begin this new program. Commit yourself to sticking to it for just one month. Be tuned in to any noticible changes. You can even keep a journal to help keep you on track. Let's work together to tell the medical community that we can take care of ourselves, and we don't need their stupid pills to deal naturally with our own bodies! Please email this page to every woman you know who suffers from PMS we can do this together!

*NOTE If you have medical problems, ask your doctor about the exercise program you should start with. Chances are you'll have to start slow and work your way into more challenging things. The other things I'm sure your doctor will agree with.

Last word on PMS and this program. Ladies, I know this program works because I did it. It was really hard, but the benefits were well worth it! I felt on top of the world, slept great and my skin cleared up! Take the challenge now to make these changes to feel and look great! Let me know of your progress please. Relaxing Rituals

A part of being healthy and whole includes not letting the stress of the day get the best of you. Here's some things you can do to chill out and relax.

First of all, if someone did you dirty and you're stressing over that, write it down on a piece of paper, tear it up, and as you are tearing, make a committment to never make that mistake again. Say it out loud. Repeat it if you have to. Then throw the paper in the trash and say "bye bye."

Before you get out of bed in the morning, if you walk yourself through your day, and all the things you want to accomplish, you'll be more prepared to make those things happen. Kind of like a self-fulfilling prophecy. All it really is, is preparation. It does help to make the day roll a little smoother if you have in your mind just what you want to do.

At the end of your day, if you have any worries that are nagging the back of your mind, light a candle for each worry. Say a prayer for each one and spend a few moments meditating or thinking about each one. You'll be surprised how a solution to that worry will just leap into your mind and bring you peace.

All of us have experienced a day when we feel crabby and unthankful. Put together a memory box that contains pictures, cards and other things that remind us to be thankful for what we have. Such as family, friends, nice vacations and etc. Looking at a thankyou card or a picture of a friend not seen in a long time can remind us of all we really have to be thankful for.

Stay tuned. There's more to come...
